Super Sunday Snack | Taste5 Umami Pepper Pigs-In-Blankets
These little piggies are all dressed up!
More than putting lipstick and pearls on the proverbial pig, these delicious bites pair perfectly with something bubbly or an ice cold martini! Taste5 Vegetarian paste combined with a little honey and dijon mustard and very healthy grindings of Taste5 Umami Pepper elevate these humble piglets to something rather grand!
1 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter
2 tablespoon honey
1 1/2 teaspoons Taste5 Vegetarian
1/4 cup Dijon mustard
One 12- to 14-ounce sheet of thawed frozen all-butter puff pastry
Flaky sea salt
Taste5 Umami Pepper or fresh coarsely ground black pepper
4 long (about 8 inch) all beef hot dogs, cut into thirds
1 egg beaten with 1 tablespoon milk or water
Preheat the oven to 375° F
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper
In a small saucepan, melt the butter and honey over moderate heat
Remove from the heat and whisk in the Taste5 Vegetarian and Dijon until smooth
Let the glaze cool completely
On a lightly floured work surface, unfold the puff pastry and roll out to a 12-inch square
Cut the dough in half, then cut each half into 6 triangles for 12 triangles total
Brush each triangle with the glaze and season with Taste5 Umami Pepper
Place 1 piece of hot dog on the wide end of each triangle, then loosely roll up
Place seam side down on the parchment paper
Repeat with the remaining triangles, glaze and hot dogs
Brush the pastry parcels with the egg wash
Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and more Taste5 Umami Pepper.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Bake the pigs in a blanket for 30 to 35 minutes, until puffed and golden
Rotate the baking sheet halfway through baking to ensure even browning
